Research

My DPhil research seeks to develop a better understanding of gender in Russia on a cultural level and to apply that knowledge to an analysis of the portrayal of transgender people in Russian news media.

Professional Experience

I taught high school and middle school classes in various topics from Russian to Mathematics for four years at Fusion Academy Newton, co-taught English courses at Tomsk Polytechnic University on the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, and tutored fellow undergraduate students for three years during my studies at the University of Vermont. I look forward to teaching again during my time as a DPhil student.

Additional Activities

I currently serve as an elected LGBTQ+ Officer for St. Antony's College GCR. In 2023-2024, this has involved holding an event every week during terms, from small events, like LGBTQ+ Film Night and Queer Arts & Crafts, to larger ones, like HalloQueen and the LGBTQ+ Graduate Formal Dinner.

Presentations

“Ideological Framing of LGBTQ+ Activism in Russia: Origins and Effects” with Queer Intersections Oxford, Oxford, May 2024.
