Congratualtions to Dr Olivia Vázquez-Medina, Associate Professor in Spanish and Fellow of Wadham College, who has been awarded the L.S. Dembo Prize for the best article published in the journal Contemporary Literature in the 2022 volume year.

The essay, ‘Samanta Schweblin’s Fever Dream: Watery Toxicity, Percolating Disquietude’, explores the interconnections between environmental degradation, fear, and literary form in this novel. The article stems from Dr Vázquez-Medina’s current book project on affect in fiction by contemporary Spanish American women writers.
