My DPhil, funded by the Oxford-Leon & Iris Beghian Graduate Scholarship from Magdalen College, will explore representations of consumption from 15th and 16th century prose adaptations of medieval chansons de geste to François Rabelais' Pantagruel series.
As an undergraduate student, I read Modern and Medieval Languages at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, before completing an MPhil in European, Latin American and Comparative Literatures and Cultures. Before starting my doctorate research, I lived in Brussels for two years, working for the European Commission. At both undergraduate and graduate level I specialised in Early Modern French literature, while also developing a passionate interest in Medieval French and Occitan texts, culminating in my current research project.
