The Modern French Research Seminar runs three times a term and brings together colleagues and graduate students with interests in French from Oxford and beyond. It is a lively forum, where invited speakers present their research, leaving plenty of time for questions and discussion, often followed by drinks or dinner. Speakers are a mixture of international, national and local academics, with designated sessions for graduate students. Recently we’ve covered authors such as Zola and Sand, Proust and Claudel, and topics as diverse as Algerian poetry, illness narratives, incest, documentary, sexuality and multilingualism.
