The magazine Modern Poetry in Translation, founded by Ted Hughes, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a ‘Poetry and Translation study day’ on Saturday 14th May in Queen’s. This will involve a number of workshops in the morning on translating from different languages, and on topics from ‘fake translation’ to translating song, led by leading poets and translators, followed by the launch of a new anthology from the magazine, Centres of Cataclysm, a Brecht event, and the launch of a new microsite devoted to the first issue of MPT. There will also be lunch, and drinks in the evening. The events in the afternoon and evening are open to all. If you want to come to the morning events (and to lunch) you will need to get a ticket, which are free for students (but places are limited).
