On Monday 7 May, the Madariaga Series will host a fascinating lecture on the Catalan independence movement, by Dr Pédro Sánchez, Secretary General of PSOE (Spanish Socialists and Workers' Party), leader of the opposition in Spain and vice president of the Socialist International.
Dr. Sánchez will address the political, social and economic factors that have led to the growth of populist secessionism in Catalonia and analyze possible solutions to the current political blockade in Spain and Europe.
The event will be held at Magdalen College's Auditorium, from 17:30 to 19:00. It will be in English and there will be time for a Q&A with the speaker.
