Prof. Francisco Moreno-Fernández

Humboldt Professor of Spanish, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg / University of Alcalá

The University of Oxford will host the 6th Foro Cervantes on Tuesday 14th June at 5pm in the Fitzhugh Auditorium, Cohen Quad, Exeter College. The  Foro Cervantes is a joint enterprise, first  held in 2012, under the auspices of the University of Oxford and the Instituto Cervantes in London. Its aim is to introduce to British academia and the British public some of the most outstanding representatives of Hispanic culture, individuals recognised by scholars and the reading public alike. In 2022, the special guest is the esteemed linguist, Professor Francisco Moreno-Fernández, Humboldt Professor of Spanish, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg / Universidad de Alcalá. The event is organised jointly by the Sub-faculty of Spanish and the Instituto Cervantes in London and entry is free. Professor Moreno-Fernández will speak in Spanish about how collective goods—such as security, care health or the environment—are defined from Economics and Social Sciences as non-rival and non-exclusive goods and will analyse whether languages (all or just some) can be considered public goods.
