We are sad to announce that Francis Lamport, University Lecturer in German and Emeritus Fellow of Worcester College, died peacefully on Tuesday 13 October.

Francis was the author of a series of books on Lessing, Goethe, and German Classicism, an accomplished translator whose translations of Schiller's 'The Robbers' and 'Wallenstein' were performed by the RSC and others, and a much-loved colleague and tutor. 

The funeral will be restricted, but we hope to arrange a larger celebration of his life in due course when circumstances permit.
