In a notice from the Austrian Department of Art, Culture Public Service and Sport, the Bundesminsiter Dr Robert Stocker announced today that Karen Leeder has been selected as the recipient of a National Translation Award 2020 for her achievements as a translator of works of Austrian Literature, with special reference to her translation of Evelyn Schlag All Under One Roof (Carcanet 2018).
All Under One Roof is her second translation of poetry by Austrian writer Evleyn Schlag and was a Poetry Book Society Selection in Summer 2018 and one of the Daily Telegraph's books of poetry of 2018. Her translation of Schlag's Selected Poems (Carcanet, 2004) won the Schlegel-Tieck Prize 2005. Schlag is the recipient of the Austrian State Prize for Literature and was awarded the Gold medal for literature at Hay in 2018.
