This year's Zaharoff lecture, Création littéraire et poétique de la voix, will be delivered by French author David Diop.

Diop is the first French author and first person of African heritage to win the International Booker prize. His novel, At Night All Blood Is Black, provides a gripping exposé of the brutality of war and colonialism. A bestseller in France, the novel has won several literary prizes across Europe and is being translated into 13 languages. Diop is also the head of arts, languages, and literature at the University of Pau, where his research focuses on 18th-century representations of Africa in accounts and images by travellers.
