It is our pleasure to announce that the inaugural issue of The Oxford Polyglot, the Faculty e-newsletter, has now been published and can be seen in its entirety here. Professor Ian Watson, Chair of the Faculty Board, has provided the introduction, and the articles have been written by colleagues across Sub-Faculties, on topics varying from Romantic objects to Angolan women writers to epitaph fictions in late-medieval France and the friendships of the great German poet Goethe.

A number of articles are dedicated to studying at Oxford: to our Outreach work encouraging wider access to the University ('Oxford Language Days'), to pre-sessional courses designed to help those students who need an extra boost with their language skills ('The Portuguese Pre-sessional Course'), and to the experience of joining the Faculty for a DPhil degree ('Student Profile: Waqas Mirza').

We hope that you enjoy learning about our research, activities, and events (find out about those in 'Our Events'). If you would like to be among the first to receive the future issues of The Oxford Polyglot, please, subscribe here.

The Oxford Polyglot Issue 1 Mailing

The email version of The Oxford Polyglot, as delivered to the subscribers (fragment).

The Oxford Polyglot will be published four times a year: at the beginning of each term and before the Long Vacation. The first issue gives a taste of what we aim to cover in the newsletter, but the specifics will vary to reflect the developments at the Faculty, the projects we are working on, and the events which are taking place. We aim to represent all Sub-Faculties and strands of activity, and hope that The Oxford Polyglot will provide a new voice in the on-going discussion of the present and future of Modern Languages.
