Congratulations to Professor Andrew Kahn and Professor Polly Jones, of the sub-faculty of Russian, have both been shortlisted for the prize for best book in literature and cultural studies awarded by the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL). The shortlist of four books features Prof. Kahn's 'A History of Russian Literature' (OUP, 2018; co-authored with Mark Lipovetsky, Stephanie Sandler and Irina Reyfman) and Prof. Jones' 'Revolution Rekindled. The Writers and Readers of Late Soviet Biography' (OUP, 2019).
Andrew also has a chapter in one of the books shortlisted in the category of Best Edited
Multi-Author Scholarly Volume ('The Poetry and Poetics of Olga Wedakova', ed. Stephanie Sandler, et al, 2019); and also noteworthy in the category of Best First Book Award, one of the finalists is Kelsey Rubin-Detlev’s 'The Epistolary Art of Catherine the Great', published by Oxford Studies in the Enlightenment, which began life as an Oxford D.Phil. supervised by Andrew Kahn.
